How is property performing in Fulwood?

Fulwood is a large and popular suburb of Preston. It’s under 2 miles, due south, to the city centre along the A6 and property there is always in demand. Fulwood is one of many areas Dewhurst Homes has excellent knowledge of. 

It’s a desirable location in its own right and has property for sale for every budget – 1 bedroom flats can be purchased for under £100,000 whilst executive homes easily exceed £1 million, meaning it is one of the most expensive parts of Preston. This is partly due to its proximity to Preston, as well as easy motorway access to the M6 and M55.

Fulwood feels like one of the greener parts of the Preston area, however it is nevertheless a fairly built up area, with buildings dating back to the Victorian gentrification of the region, and earlier.

Due to large investments during the late Victorian era, Fulwood was an area of much development by wealthy Preston industrialists. Some of the finest Victorian buildings of Lancashire can be found in Fulwood, such as the Fulwood Barracks, Fulwood Union Workhouse, and Harris Orphanage.

Many of the larger houses in Fulwood were also built during the Victorian period, particularly those in the Nooklands cul-de-sac.

Great for families

If you’re looking for a place to settle with children, Fulwood is excellent with a choice of ten primary schools and four high schools. There’s also preparatory and independent schools to be found in Fulwood.

“Last year most property sales in Fulwood involved semi-detached properties which sold for on average £177,988. Detached properties sold for an average price of £277,545, while terraced properties fetched £128,556. Fulwood, with an overall average price of £200,050 was more expensive than nearby Preston (£167,752) and Ashton-On-Ribble (£132,362), but was cheaper than Broughton (£292,465). During the last year, sold prices in Fulwood were similar to the previous year and similar to 2017 when the average house price was £198,512.”
